讲座简介 Motivation can be seen as the force that drives you to perform a certain action. When talking about motivation, a distinction is often made between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation can be described as motivation coming from within, for example when you are driven by your interests and your curiosity. Extrinsic motivation, on the other hand, can be described as motivation coming from the outside world, such as monetary rewards or obtaining high grades for your exam. In this talk, we will discuss the importance of intrinsic motivation for learning, with a special focus on stimulating curiosity during the learning process. What do we know about curiosity and motivation? How can we foster curiosity and (intrinsic) motivation? And what happens in our brain when we are curious and (intrinsically) motivated to learn?
